This cozy café is tucked inside a neighborhood market, giving it a charm that’s both familiar and intriguingly off the beaten path. The atmosphere is relaxed but attentive, where the baristas and hosts seem to take a subtle pride in the details—the swirl of crema on a cappuccino, the mindful layering of flavors in a delicate crepe, or the unexpected sweetness of a honey cake that lingers long after the last bite.
At Rough Russian Cafe, food is never just fuel. It’s an experience woven from carefully crafted European-inspired dishes and drinks that encourage sharing and savoring. You may find yourself drawn to the hearty warmth of borscht or the gentle indulgence of a caramel latte, each plate or cup a small discovery that feels both comforting and unpretentious. The menu unfolds like a story told in every bite—from savory crepes filled with fresh ideas of salmon or mushrooms, to the surprising freshness of sea buckthorn tea, all served with a quiet attention to craftsmanship.

The food, the atmosphere, it’s so perfect. Very good prices for everything in this little cafe attached to a corner store. The definition of a hidden gem

Great market. I had good 8 oz latte with oat milk, fantastic pastry (idk what it is), and they gave me a special little treat just for fun.

So much is packed in this market - such good options and fun finds. We had breakfast at the cafe and it was delicious. Brother had the shawarma, husband had the potato pierogies, and I had the mushroom crepe. Everything was so clean and delicious. Turkish coffees too!

The best European Bakery in town. They have the best freshly baked bread, pastries and coffee. They have the Turkish coffee, made in ... sand

A coffee shop inside the Roman Russian Market. The ambience is relaxed. Service is good. I had a beef sausage and vegetable crepe and sea buckthorn tea and passed (with regret) on a pistachio eclair. The crepe was made to order. Prices are in line with the high quality of the offerings.

I finally made it into RRC & was pleasantly surprised by the selection of beautifully prepared food, grocery, dessert, and a coffee bar. I went back a couple of days later for a cabbage roll, but they had sold out. I opted for their wonderfully prepared and seasoned potatoes. So good! I will be back. All of the staff were helpful and kind.

Food quality is OUTSTANDING. I had to stop eating my sandwich so I could bring 1/2 of it to my husband. Beautiful presentation and lovely atmosphere. Plus a nice lil treat w/my coffee

Cute little pastry shop cozy in the corner of the best Russian grocery store in Oregon. Most speak Russian but young gal Valiyah speaks English and is very happy to help, offer recommendations, etc. Delicious food and tons of dessert options!
